You guys must know by now that I am a huge Tracfone fan. I’m not a fan because of anything in particular that Tracfone does, or their phones. The service is fine and reliable, and every Tracfone cell phone I’ve owned has been the same. I mostly love saving tons of money while other people spend crazy amounts every single month. My ANNUAL cell phone bill equals what most people pay in two months of normal cell phone service. And I don’t have to worry about any “early termination fees”.
Without all that said, however, guess what? My company will be providing me with a smart phone, most likely an iPhone, but ultimately it’s my choice. This is a realm in which I have traditionally feared to tread. The world of cell phone contracts and smart devices! I’m a little scared, and also a little bummed that my little Tracfone will sorta be rendered obsolete.
All is not lost in the land of prepaid cellular as I will obviously keep my Tracfone (it’s prepaid after all!) and probably pass it on to my kids for the time being. Don’t worry peeps, I’m still fully entrenched in Tracfone lore and tradition. The team will continue to provide the latest and greatest Tracfone promo codes and coupons when available.
Although I will be able to use a smart phone free of charge, I’m kinda bummed that I now have to figure out which phone to buy, what network to use, and what plan to purchase. These are all things that the seasoned Tracfone fan actively avoids! There is much pain to be found in trying to make these decisions. The iPhone 4 is available now, but apparently the iPhone 5 will be released in 1 month. Should I purchase a phone that will be obsolete in a month? Should I wait for the iPhone 5 to be released on a rumor? What if I am unable to get one next month? There’s no way I’m waiting in a line to purchase a phone like all of those lemmings. What about Android? Those phones are pretty good too, especially the Droid 3. Sheesh.
See? These are questions that a Tracfone customer doesn’t have to worry about. Rejoice in that freedom.

Actually, that’s a good idea, handing your Tracfone over to the kid(s) for the time being. It will be good to have them stay in contact in case of emergencies. Just make sure they don’t burn through the already-there minutes on non-emergency calls & texts. Make *them* buy the refill cards if they do!
word is apple will offer a prepaid phone

My wife and I, and 3 of my kids all have tracfones and love them. That being said, I’d like a smartphone that I could write apps for. I like the Palm Pre running WebOS now owned by HP, but I don’t now about the service plans.
Have you looked into ‘Straight Talk’ prepaid cellular phone and web access. I don’t know all the details, but it’s from the TracFone company you know and love. Possibly buy a smart phone with no contract, then start buying ‘Straight Talk’ cards.
Tracfone is a good value because they keep it simple. Iphone? Android? Not likely. But if you need a phone for emergencies or infrequent use, there’ no better for price and service. Solid value.
